The Village Centre
A PLACE FOR RESIDENTS AND VISITORS TO WORK, SHOP, LEARN AND PLAY
According to internationally acclaimed town planner and architect, Andrés Duany, whose DPZ team designed The Village Master Plan, The Village Centre “will have it all. Cafes for the coffee people; pubs for the beer people; wine bistros for the wine people; spaces for artists to work and for people to watch them work; places to shop and window shop; gardens to stroll through … It will be a centre where neighbours will meet by chance or by design. It will have a beautiful pedestrian feel that is so important if a community is to flourish.”
Currently home to CIBC, Shoppers Drug Mart, The Garrison House Restaurant, a Farmers’ Market, Village Dental, and numerous professional offices, there is much more planned for this, the heart of The Village community. Activities suitable for this blend of cultural and commercial are limited only by the imagination. The objective is to foster vibrant retail activity, creating an exciting new place with a distinctly “Niagara” focus. Upon completion, the five-acre Village Centre will include:
- A performing arts centre;
- A specialty grocery store;
- An artists’ area promoting Canadian artists and their creations;
- Restaurants, cafés and bars;
- Public areas for exhibitions and events appealing to individual and family recreational pursuits;
- Spaces for shopkeepers and service providers catering to the desire for an authentic Niagara.
